While we had a great meet last night, we need to remind our Marlins family of a few things…
- Our last three dual meets are at home, which means we will need all hands on deck to host efficient and fun meets for our swimmers and visiting teams. Please look for the sign-up genius emails for meet volunteers and make sure you are signing up as soon as possible. Remember that every swim family needs to volunteer for at least 3 volunteer shifts during the season.
- Unless volunteering (e.g., timer, runner), parents should not be behind the blocks at meets. Parents are encouraged to cheer loudly, take pictures/videos, and enjoy themselves at the meets — just not behind the blocks. The blocks and finishing end (for 25-yard events) need to be kept clear so swimmers, coaches, and officials can do what they need to do.
- We will continue to send out a list of swimmers signed up for a meet the week prior and entry reports the day before a meet. If parents need to change their swimmer’s availability (e.g., swimmer no longer available, swimmer wants to swim and wasn’t signed up), those emails should go directly to Coach Taylor.
- If a swimmer is unable to attend a meet at the last minute, please email Coach Taylor as soon as you know. We have had several instances of relays scratched at the last minute (including last night) because one swimmer did not show up at the meet with no heads up to the coaching team. This is really hard on the other relay swimmers and creates a lot of chaos for the coaches. We do understand that things happen and we ask that you let us know so we can make adjustments.Â
